An Incredible Journey Into the Backcountry World

I lived in Jasper for 4 months in 1999 and enjoyed many things. I was never too extreme. However i saw plenty of wildlife (bumped into a black bear and cubs, plenty of sheep, elk, goats). I spent most of my Jasper culture, out of the bars and on the road biking, and day hiking.

Little did i know what I was missing in the mountain universe. The BACKCOUNTRY! A different beautiful outlook of the world and what Alberta possesses. The endurance is a testament to your strength: moving you forward. The food is a testament to the fuel: allowing survival. And the lack of showers is a testament to your vanity! The accomplishment at the end is euphoric! The idea that you hiked with the clothes and food on your back for a 3 day period amazes me.

I was introduced to hiking first in 2007 starting at the Sunshine Ski Lodge (a place I am fairly familar with in the winter). It was fantastic! I have continued on with many adventures and hope to continue in the future. But my first had many memories that I will always treasure :)
